Agrium reached a new milestone in its multi-faceted partnership with the Calgary Stampede this fall, when the Agrium Western Event Centre was adorned with the company’s logo.
This impressive structure, which will feature a competition arena with viewing suites, an exhibit hall and a beautiful entrance rotunda, is under construction and set to open during the 2014 Stampede.
The building’s rotunda will be home to Journey 2050, a unique youth education program designed to complement the Alberta education curriculum. With the help of computer tablets, displays and games, children will explore the lives of three farming families in Kenya, India and Canada. It will empower students to make decisions and adjust them based on their impact on society the environment and the economy on a local and global scale.
Once complete, it is estimated that Journey 2050 will attract up to 10,000 students a year for a day-long immersive experience.
Agrium and the Calgary Stampede share the same values and philosophy towards engaging youth and education in agriculture and the new Agrium Western Events Center and Journey 2050 is a testament to their level of commitment.
